We initially drove thru w berlin which is very "high end" looking similar to Boston w $1mil hms, then went to the Berlin Wall which was torn down 20 yrs ago. There are so many sites in e berlin, despite much destruction after the end of the Reich and communism.

The "site of grand stages" where Hitler gave many speeches.

May have to double click on this to read, but here is some of the unbelievable history of the Berlin wall! Hard to believe it was only 20 yrs ago that it came down!

In front of the Brandenburg Gate which was the passage from Democratic West Berlin into Communist East Berlin.

The boys in front of the gate literally a couple meters from where the wall once stood!

Church across from the Palace of the Kings and Queens of Prussia. Another of MANY unbelievable sites!

Bullet holes in the brick from the pic above...this is seen in many of the bldgs of E Berlin where fighting was frequent and harsh.

Ethan, Jake, and Harrison 'liftin' fountain'!

The boys had a practice this morning, then after lunch at the hotel, met the DTFS team down at the local town about 5 miles away (Frantiskovy Lazne) where there is a swim spa w indoor/outdoor pools., a small casino (no one went in!) and many shops. Most of the boys swam w the DTFS team, although a couple hung w the adults checking out the shops. We had sun, then a rain shower where the temp dropped below 60, more sun, more rain, and finally more sun!

Skye, Benedict, Ethan! Benedict is a GREAT kid from Germany we met....he practiced w our team even thou he's in the midst of peotentially joing the DTFS team. Very funny, cute, and always happy! Also taught every1 how to count to 10 in german!

After the visiting the town, AC Sparta Praha (the professional team from Prague) happened to be passing thru town to play at the local field. The boys watched the practice for an hour!

We left the stadium and went to the "top of the hill" where the castle is, eventually walking over a mile down to the city center where the beheadings used to take place. Prague is an amazingly beautiful city with miles of cobblestone streets-easy to walk and w many restaurants, coffee houses and shops!

We (Liberty and DTFS-28 kids) drive 2hrs from hotel to arrive in Sparta Prague stadium built in 1960's for political/communist presentations. Holds 200,000 people......converted to 8 soccer fields for youth Sparta Prague Academy-the most successful club in Czech Repub! Kids find it the best fields they ever played on! Liberty kids impressed w younger DTFS players skill level!

Tavi & Robert leading 1st practice w Liberty and German/Czech (DTFS) teams at local field where Pavel Nedved grew-up and played as youngster before going to Victory Pilsen, Czech Repub National team, Lazio Roma, and Juventus Torino! Kids also visit museum of Nedved w showing of orig uniforms of all teams.

Fri -practice in morning and afternoon at local field.

Sat- trip to Prague w practice 11a-1p at Sparta Prague w their players and German kids (DTFS). Then visit the city, and back to hotel for dinner.

At the Hotel Kazduv Dvur in Czech! Several miles from German-Czech boarder we passed thru old check-point (no more checking), in fact no passports even needed! We all slept in van on 4hr ride. We relaxed at hotel 1st day (hotel in background) w swimming and walking. We are out in the country!

After a LONG plane ride (8hrs), and kids sleeping 15min, we land in frankfurt-waiting for 4-hr ride to Czech Republic and hotel! Kids have fun, adults tired! Everyone smiling though!

Dear LIBERTY FC members,

In period June 17-th -June 28-th a group of 8 players , 5 parents and myself will traveling in Europe [Germany and Czech Republic] at DTFS the Czecho-German Football School invitation.
Playing soccer in an international environment is for young players an experiences that will last a lifetime. Traveling internationally will present you with invaluable opportunities to grow on and off the field as a team and individuals. The trip give us unique opportunities to train and play with players from other countrys , to spend time together off the field , building valuable friendships and learning other cultures.

Will do our best to represent our club in a properly manner.

Will send daily journals and pictures from our experiences.
